Weekly Update, December 02, 2011

Remedial Investigation field work commenced in late-March 2010 at the former Metropolitan Works MGP as part of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC)- approved Remedial Investigation Work Plan (RIWP).  The completed work included the installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, test pit excavations, and indoor air and sub-slab soil vapor points to gather information required to determine the nature and extent of impacts at the former Metropolitan Works MGP.  Drilling proposed in RIWP Addendum No. 2 was completed in April 2011. Additional work to complete the Remedial Investigation, including RIWP Addendums No. 1 and No. 3, is scheduled for the fall of 2011.

Activities Week of November 28 – December 2:

  • Remedial Investigation field work including advancement and re-installation of a groundwater monitoring well at one private property located near the site.

Future (two week look - ahead) activities:

  • Off-site transport and disposal of investigation derived waste (IDW) generated during advancement of recent soil borings and monitoring wells. Perform gauging and development of this newly installed well at the private property located near the site.
