Weekly Update, November 25, 2011

Remedial Investigation field work commenced in late-March 2010 at the former Metropolitan Works MGP as part of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC)- approved Remedial Investigation Work Plan (RIWP).  The completed work included the installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, test pit excavations, and indoor air and sub-slab soil vapor points to gather information required to determine the nature and extent of impacts at the former Metropolitan Works MGP.  Drilling proposed in RIWP Addendum No. 2 was completed in April 2011. Additional work to complete the Remedial Investigation, including RIWP Addendums No. 1 and No. 3, is scheduled for the fall of 2011.

Activities Week of November 19 – November 25:

  • Off-site transport and disposal of investigation derived waste (IDW) generated during advancement of recent soil borings and monitoring wells.
  • Perform gauging and development of the newly installed wells at the private property located near the site.

Future (two week look - ahead) activities:

  • Off-site transport and disposal of investigation derived waste (IDW) generated during advancement of recent soil borings and monitoring wells.
  • Remedial Investigation field work including advancement and re-installation of a groundwater monitoring well at one private property located near the site.
  • Perform gauging and development of this newly installed well at the private property located near the site.
