Weekly Update, September 30, 2011

Remedial Investigation field work commenced in late-March 2010 at the former Metropolitan Works MGP as part of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC)- approved Remedial Investigation Work Plan (RIWP).  The completed work included the installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, test pit excavations, and indoor air and sub-slab soil vapor points to gather information required to determine the nature and extent of impacts at the former Metropolitan Works MGP.  Drilling proposed in RIWP Addendum No. 2 was completed in April 2011. Additional work to complete the Remedial Investigation, including RIWP Addendums No. 1 and No. 3, is scheduled for the fall of 2011.

Activities Week of September 26–September 30:

Remedial Investigation field work resumed. Activities included mobilization and utility mark-outs at two private properties located near the site.

Future (two week look - ahead) activities:

  • Drilling to be performed at two private properties located near the site, including the advancement and installation of soil borings and monitoring wells.
